Pune’s metro connectivity is all set for a major boost! Sakal reported that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has directed MahaMetro to begin work on a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a brand-new 42-kilometer metro line from Bhakti-Shakti Chowk (Nigdi) to Chakan. This proposed corridor marks the second major metro initiative for the Pimpri-Chinchwad region after the Dapodi-Nigdi route.
Once the DPR is finalized and receives official approval, construction will begin, drastically improving the public transport infrastructure in Pune’s northern and northwestern zones. According to PCMC, this expansion will ensure nearly 75% of Pimpri-Chinchwad is brought under metro coverage—leaving only a quarter of the region without direct access to metro services.
What This Means for Pune’s Real Estate Market
With the rapid growth in employment and population in Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari, Talegaon, and Chakan, improved connectivity is the need of the hour. The new corridor will not only ease traffic congestion but also significantly enhance the real estate potential of metro-connected localities like Ravet, Wakad, Punawale, and Kiwale—already popular with both homebuyers and investors.
Here are some promising residential projects that will benefit from this metro line:
- 🏡 Arun Sanctum, Ravet – A premium lifestyle offering in Ravet, ideally located near the upcoming metro corridor.
- 🏡 Pebbles Greenfield, Wakad – A modern residential project in Wakad, which is set to gain even more traction due to enhanced connectivity.
- 🏡 West World Punawale – A vibrant development in the fast-growing Punawale-Kiwale belt, poised for rapid appreciation with the metro coming up nearby.
Key Metro Stations Planned Along the New Route
- Bhakti-Shakti Chowk (Nigdi)
- Ravet
- Mukai Chowk
- Pune-Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway
- Wakad Bypass
- Pimple Saudagar
- Pimple Gurav
- Nashik Phata
- Bhosari
- Moshi
- Chakan
With junctions planned at Nashik Phata and Bhakti-Shakti Chowk, seamless interchange between existing and upcoming metro routes will become possible, connecting these suburbs to Pune’s city center and industrial hubs with ease.
The Bigger Picture: A City on the Move
As per Dr. Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director of MahaMetro, work on the DPR has already begun and is expected to be ready within the next 4–5 months. Once approved, this corridor will transform daily commutes for thousands, fuel real estate appreciation, and unlock development potential across Pimpri-Chinchwad.
With growing IT parks, educational institutions, and lifestyle conveniences, areas like Wakad, Punawale, Ravet, and Kiwale are increasingly attractive for families and professionals alike. This metro expansion is a big step forward in making Pune’s suburban housing even more desirable and accessible.
